Presidential Scholarship (Must be admitted as a new freshman for the FALL 2019 Semester)
This is the most prestigious scholarship offered by NEIU covering full in-state tuition, fees, and provides a book allowance for four academic years (120 credit hours). Recipients are also automatically admitted into the University Honors Program.
-Only freshman students entering for the Fall 2019 Semester who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply: minimum ACT composite score of 27 (or 1280 on the SAT), 3.35 cumulative GPA, and must be a graduate/graduating senior from an Illinois high school
-Transfer, continuing, graduate, and international students are not eligible to apply.
-U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and undocumented students who are Illinois residents and that meet the academic requirements are welcome to apply.
Must complete the following:
-The online application (including short essay)
-Upload resume or listing of honors, extracurricular activities, community service, employment, and etc.
-Write a response to essay question #2: “Take a position on a global problem and share how you feel it can be resolved.” (750 word minimum; please cite sources if appropriate). OR Submit with your application a writing sample that exemplifies your best critical written work completed during your senior year of high school (two type written pages minimum, cite sources as appropriate). **Please note you may submit an essay on a global problem or submit a writing sample of your best work.
-Upload 3 letters of recommendations (2 must be from high school teachers)
