Brommel-Wambach Determination Against All Odds Scholarship (Open to any major)

This endowed scholarship is available to a student who has overcome tremendous odds, which may include financial, emotional, physical or mental problems, family issues such as divorce, separation, abandonment or abuse (among others), in order to pursue higher education. Minority students, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, those who are living on their own and struggling to attend NEIU, and students with special needs. You must be enrolled full- or part-time with a minimum of six credit hours at Northeastern. Sophomore applicants must have completed a minimum of 30 hours by the end of current Spring semester; Juniors must have completed 60 or more hours by end of the current Spring semester. Senior applicants must have two or more semesters remaining prior to graduation to be eligible. You must submit an essay as evidence of your determination to overcome circumstances in your life. In addition, an essay and two letters of recommendation are required.

These may be from university faculty, doctors, high school teachers, clergy, long-time family friends, or others who can speak to your determination, work ethic and the struggles you overcame to pursue higher education. These letters must cite evidence of your determination to overcome the odds faced and/or still face in order to attend Northeastern Illinois University.
