NEIU Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and be a NEW entering transfer student for the Fall 2024 Semester to apply)

Eligibility Criteria:
-Must be an incoming transfer student for the Fall 2024 Semester
-Must have a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
-Earned Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science Degree (AS).
-Open to any academic major.
-Must enroll as a new transfer student during the Fall 2024 semester as a full-time student following graduation from a two year institution.
-Currently enrolled NEIU students, non-Illinois residents, half-time/part-time students, individuals with Associate of Applied Science Degrees (AAS), and students who already have earned Bachelor’s Degrees are not eligible to apply.
-One recipient will be selected to receive the award for the upcoming academic year beginning with the Fall 2024 semester.

How to Apply:
-Complete online scholarship application.
-Submit a résumé highlighting your leadership positions, academic honors, special awards, work experience, and community service.
-Submit a letter of recommendation from your Phi Theta Kappa chapter advisor verifying your membership and describing your active participation in the organization’s activities.
-Submit copy of transcript from transfer institution
-Complete an essay about the following: How would you define educational success while attending Northeastern Illinois University? (Typed, 250 word minimum)
-Complete an essay on the following: Take an informed stand on the issue of gun violence in the U.S. (3 type written pages minimum, cite sources as appropriate)

*How the scholarship works: *
-Scholarship will cover up to 12 to 15 credit hours of in-state tuition per semester (fall and spring) provided the recipient is not receiving any other tuition based aid. Scholarship will cover 6 credit hours of in-state tuition for summer.
-The scholarship does not cover fees or books.
-Recipient must complete the curriculum in the University Honors Program in order to remain eligible for the award.
-The scholarship is renewable provided that the recipient maintains a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and continues to meet the requirements of the University Honors Program.
-Scholarship covers the first 60 hours of undergraduate enrollment at NEIU.
