Brommel-Barnett-Kenas-McGuckin-Nicosia-Speake Scholarship in Music
This scholarship is available to one of the top students majoring in music at Northeastern Illinois University and who plans to pursue a career in teaching.
Faculty members may nominate students. Students may ask a faculty member to nominate them; or may nominate themselves.
Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:
1. must write an essay detailing why the nominee wants to teach music and outlining their teaching goals.
2. must be enrolled full-time or part-time for a minimum of six credit hours
3. junior applicants must have completed 90 or more credit hours by the end of the current spring semester
4. senior applicants must have two or more semesters remaining prior to graduation to be eligible.
5. must perform an audition for full consideration
The audition panel will be determined by the Department of Music Chair in consultation with faculty members and will include the NEIU staff accompanist.
A panel of three to five members of the Music Department faculty will determine the recipient of the scholarship, subject to the approval of the appropriate University officials.
