Brommel Determination Against All Odds Scholarships (Open to Undergraduate Students in Any Major)
Purpose of Scholarship:
To recognize undergraduate students who have overcome tremendous odds, which may include financial, emotional, physical or mental challenges, family issues such as divorce, separation, abandonment or abuse (among others) in pursuit of higher education. Underrepresented students, including LGBTQ, students living on their own and struggling to attend NEIU, and students with special needs, are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Applicants must be currently enrolled either as full-time or half-time (minimum enrollment of six credit hours at Northeastern).
-Sophomore applicants must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of the current Spring semester.
-Juniors must have completed 60 or more hours by end of the current Spring semester.
-Senior applicants must have two or more semesters remaining prior to graduation to be eligible.
-Applicants must submit an essay as evidence of their determination to overcome circumstances in life. In addition, an essay and two letters of recommendation are required from (i.e. from NEIU faculty, advisors, mentors, health care professional, employer, clergy, family members or friends).
*Four students will be selected to receive one of the following: *
-Brommel Rocci Determination Against All Odds Scholarship ($1,500)
-Brommel Schaack Determination Against All Odds Scholarship ($1,500)
-Brommel Wambach Determination Against All Odds Scholarship ($1,500)
-Brommel Neiman Determination Against All Odds Scholarship ($2,000)
