Dr. B. Peyton Harrison, Jr Annual Legacy Scholarship (Applicants must be students in the Project Success Program)

-Be currently enrolled, full-time or half-time and in good academic standing
-Open to any major within the university;
-Be an active participant in the Project Success program;
-Have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
-First preference shall go to applicants who are African American; if there is no African American student that qualifies, a student who fits the other qualifications
will be considered;
-Consideration will be given to applicants who are active in community service work that focuses on helping families access the resources they need to maintain
and improve their lives.
-Student applicants would submit a letter of recommendation from an official or supervisor at the community organization where they volunteer or work.

This scholarship, established in September of 2020 by his family, Jerri, Jordan and Brandon Harrison, was created in memory of Peyton B. Harrison, Jr., Ph.D., who was an alumnus of NEIU (‘80 Arts and Sciences/Speech) and professor of Pan-African Studies at the University. The intent of this fund is to assist students participating in the Project Success Program at Northeastern Illinois University.
