The Mark Zinman Endowed Scholarship (For Special Education Majors)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate student admitted to the College of Education who has a declared major in Special Education.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
  • Must submit an essay describing why you have chosen the field of special education and demonstrate experiences with individuals who have special needs.
  • Must submit a letter of recommendation from one of the following: faculty member, employer, high school teacher, or parent of special needs child. The author of the letter should speak to the applicant’s work ethic as well as the applicant’s determination to to work with individuals who have special needs.

Purpose of the Scholarship:

  • This fund has been established in the memory of Mr. Mark S. Zinman who studied at Northeastern Illinois University and became a special education major at Illinois State University. He always had a great affinity for children, especially those with special needs.
  • To provide financial support to a deserving student.
